-  20/01-23/01 Indoor Footballteam Almelo visited Preston and met their Town Hall colleagues.

 

-  20/01-23/01 Two members of the Preston Comité Almelo were in Preston and  had a meeting about twinningmatters with members of the Almelo – Sub Committee.

 

-  17/03-19/03 Two members of Scouting Almelo visit Preston in the 7Jubilee of the 1st Broughton Scout­group.           

 

-  May, PIUS X Collegestudents enjoyed again Preston and Preston's beautiful area during their 7 days trip.

 

-  02/07-09/07 PY2K. Fifty students and their teachers take part in the Preston Youth 2000 Festival. The delegation consists of:

   ROC Oost-Nederland, ROC Twente Plus/Gravenvoorde and Het Noordik.

   A journalist of the Twentsche Courant Tubantia (Newspaper) also visits Preston during this week.

 

-  06/07-09/07 Civic party Almelo take part in the PY2K festivities.

   Members of the Almelo Comité wil take part in the European Market. They stay with heir twinning friends in Preston.

 

-  05/08 t/m 12/08 Scouting Almelo will take part in the "Red Rose 2000" Scouting Camp.

 

1999 

-  18/01-22/01 Two stafmembers of ROC Twente Plus (Van Rhijn College) visited Preston College to prepare working placements in Preston for their students.

 

-  15/05-22/05 Forty-five students of PIUS X College and four teachers visited Preston and enjoyed the long hikes in the Preston area and at the Lake Dis­trict. Nearly every year the students choose for Preston instead of a place in another European coun­try.

  The PIUS X group stayed at Waddecar Scout Camp.

 

-  24/07-04/08 Preston Scouts took part in the Preston-Almelo Camp in Almelo.

 

-  05/12-11/12 Teacher ROC Twente Plus (Van Rhijn College) visited Preston College

 

1998 

-  13/02-21/02 Students of PIUS X College gave two performances at Car­dinal Newman College (16/2 and 17/2) with the all Theatre produc­tion 'For the sake of EXAMPLE'. The Almelo students were stay­ing at Waddecar Scout Camp.

 

-  24/03-29/03 Almelo delegation visits Preston to celebrate the Golden Twinning Jubilee Preston-Alme­lo.

   The delegation consisted of:

  The Mayor of Almelo, Mr. M. Knip; members of:

  the Council, the Preston Comité,  the I.P.A­., Scouting Almelo, the Women's Guild Alme­lo, Chr. Primary School 'De Telgen­borch', St. Canisius­school, ROC Oost-Nederland and Almelo Library.

  

-  05/06-09/06 Visit Klarinet-ensemble, Muziekschool Noord-Twente, Almelo   to Preston. Performances were arranged by the Ashton on Ribble High School. The Almelo musicians stayed at Waddecar Scout Camp.

  

-  15/07-25/07 Scouting Almelo celebrated the Golden Twinning Jubilee with the 1st Broughton Scoutgroup at Waddecar Scout Camp.

  

-  Preston Orpheus Choir visited The Almelo Mannenkoor and took part in the Twinning Jubilee Celebration and also in the Celebration Programm.

 

-  30/10-04/11 From Preston to Almelo Civic Delegation and representatives of various Organisations/Schools etc. The Preston delegation took part in the 50th Twinning Jubilee Almelo-Preston in Almelo.

  The delegation was composed of:

  The Mayor of Preston, Councillor Mrs. Rose Kinsella, The Mayores­ses, the Town Clerk, The Mayor's Attendance, the Mayor's Secretary, several Councillors, members of the Preston Twinning Liaison Com­mittee, members of the Preston Women Guild, Vice-principal Preston College, members of the IPA, representatives of Preston Scouts, Churches, Choirs and other persons.

 

1997

-  21/02-23/02 Two members of the Preston Comité Almelo are on a working visit to Preston.

 

-  02/05-05/05 The Amounderness Ladies Folk Dan­cers visited Almelo and performed on different locations.  Their host famileis were members of the Folklo­risti­sche Dansgroep NS in Almelo.

 

-  15/06-17-06 Lancashire Oecumenical Officer visits Almelo. Members of the various churches in Almelo were able to attend an information evening about the work of the Officer. This meeting was held in the Exodus Chapel in Almelo.

 

-  28/08-31/08 Civic delegation and members of the Preston Twinning Liaison Committee attended the Farewell Reception of the Mayor of Almelo, Mr. H.J. van Roekel.

   The members of The PTLC had consulting hours in Almelo on Satur­day, 30th of August. Everybody in Almelo who wanted more informati­on about twinning with Preston and/or contactaddresses for twinning was welcome at that special meeting. Many inhabi­tants from Almelo used that opportunity!

 

-  The Headmaster of the Primary School 'De Telgen­borch' Almelo, visits St. Gregory's Primary School to prepare the visit of some of his pupils to Pres­ton in 1998.

 

1996

-  09/04-13/04 The Elizabethan Singers (16) from Pres­ton are visiting Almelo. They gave one concert with the Almelo's Overdag­koor and also a wonderful per­formance in the Bleek Church in Almelo.

 

-  03/05-06/05 The Folkloristische Dansgroep NS (24) visited Preston, on invitation of the Amounderness Ladies Folk Dancers.

 

-  11/06-13/06 Lancashire Oecumenical Officer visited Almelo.

 

-  20/09-21/09 Two cyclists from Preston visited Alme­lo. In connection with a charity project they had visited (by bicycle) Preston's Twin Towns.

 

1995

-  03/10-08/10 Visit of IPA Lancashire members (8) to their colleagues in Almelo. They took also part in the 25 - Year Jubilee I.P.A.Twe­nte.

 

-  03/10-08/10 Eight members of The Preston Twinning Liaison Commit­tee were in Almelo for a working visit.

-  06/08-15/08 Scouting Almelo participates with 44 members in The Red Rose '94 Interna­tional Cam­p in Preston.

 

-  04/11-09/11 Working visit members Preston Co­mité to Preston and partici­pation in the meeting of The Preston Twinning Liaison Commit­tee.      

 

1993

- 24/06-27/06 On invitation of the Mayor of Almelo, Mr. Van Roekel and of the members of the Preston Comité. a small civic delegation, among them members of The Preston Twinning Liaison Committee visited Almelo. The purpose of this visit was to continue the cooperati­on between both twincities and to give more value on the contents of an exchange-visit.

  In a special meeting with the guests from Preston a Twinning Protocol was composed and signed by The Right Wors­hipful The Mayor of Preston, Councillor K. Hudson and by the Mayor of Almelo, Mr. H.J. van Roekel.

 

-  27/09-01/10 In connection with "1993. The Europian Year of the Older People" a delegation (15) of Age Concern, Pres­ton and South Ribble visited their colleagues in Almelo. ( Stichting Wel­zijn Oude­ren Almelo -SWOA-.

 

-  17/11-23/11 A delegation from Almelo, organized by SWOA, visited Preston and took part in the Interna­tional Confe­rence "Eu­ropean Year of Older People and Solidarity between Generations 1993".

-  21/03-27/03 Theatregroup Pius X College (45 stu­dents) visited the Ashton-on-Ribble Highschool te Preston. They performed in Preston 'Tit­sing's Fall in the Mouth of the Dying Day'.

 

-  23/06-01/07 On invitation of IPA, District Lanca­shire in Preston twenty-four members of IPA-Almelo visited Preston and took part in the Preston GUILD 92 celebrations.

 

-  28/08-06/09 Members of the P.R.-department in the Town Hall in Almelo participated with a booth in the  "Proud Preston Exhibition".

 

-  28/08-06/09 A small Civic delegation took part in the Prston Guild '92 Celebrations.

-  08/03-11/03 Six members of the Badmintonclub from Preston visited Badmin­tonclub Shuttle '81 in Almelo. 

 

-  30/05-01/06 In connection with Preston Promotion, members of the Preston Comité in Almelo participated with a booth in The Trade Exhibition Almelo '91.

 

-  21/07-28/07 Forty-two Scouts from Preston visited the Almelo Scouts.

 

11/10-15/10 Het Jeugdharmonie-orkest en de Big Band van Muziekschool Noord Twente te Almelo (58 per­sons) visited the Ashton on Ribble Highscho­ol­band in Pres­ton.

-  20/10-24/10 Members of the Ash­ton on Ribble Highsch­ool Concert-/ and Big Band visited Almelo and stayed with the members of The Jeugd­har­monie-orkest van de Mu­ziek­school Noord Twen­te, and PIUS X Colle­ge. The gave several concerts in Almelo.

-  March. Badmintonclub Shuttle 81' visited Preston and took part in the Badmintoncompetition in Pres­ton.

-  04/06-10/06 Pabo-students (22) from Almelo spent their working period on various Scholls in Pres­ton.

 

-  23/06-27/06 Seven members of The Almelose Vrouwen­raad visited the Women's Guild in Preston.

-  28/05-6/6 Sixteen students of the Pedagogische Academie voor Basisonder­wijs, afdeling PABO 'Ros­arium' visited with their teacher, Miss M. Gitz, various Schools in Preston.

 

-  11/06-15/06 On invitation of The Almelose Vrouwen­raad, six members of The Preston Women's Guild visi­ted Alme­lo.

 

-  30/06-07/07 The director and a nurse of the Stichting Aangepaste Woonvorm Twente in Almelo and a local health-officer visited their colleagu­es in Preston to prepare a visit of physical disabled persons.

 

-  10/07-17/07 Eight members of the Almelo Chris­telijke Harmonie visited members of The Pres­ton Youth Orches­tra. They also visited The Almelo House and surprised the residents with flowers. (a gift from the residents of the Castello Apartmentbuilding in Almelo).

-  01/04-05/04 The Preston Orpheus Choir visited with 41 members The Almelo's Mannenkoor. Both Choirs gave a concert in Almelo's Bur­gerzaal, Town Hall.

-  28/07-09/08 On invitation of The Scoutinggroup 'de Tubanten' in Almelo,  42 members of The 1e Brough­ton Scout Group Preston took part in the celebration of the 60-Year's Jubilee of The Tubanten.

-  22/09-28/09 Twenty-eight members of the Internatio­nal Police Associ­ation (IPA), British Secti­on, Cen­tral Lancashire Branch in Preston took part in the 10- Year Jubilee Celebration IPA-Twente, Almelo.

   

-  06/12-11/12 The new chairman of The Preston Twinning Liaison Committee, Mr. R. Aspden and his wife were invited by the Preston Comité in Almelo to visit Almelo.

-  25/06-30/06 Twentynine Prestonians (Civic delegation and other persons) celebrated in Almelo the 30 years Twinning Jubilee Almelo - Preston.

         For several members was this the beginning of a life-long friendship with persons in Almelo.

-  08/04-14/04 Almelo did organize an International Youth Sport Festi­val. Participants were young people from Almelo's Twin Cities:

  Pres­ton (10), Kort­rijk (Belgium), Biel Switser­land), Köge (Denmark) en Iserlohn (Germany). Members of the Civic Parties also took part in the festival.

 

-  12/07-18/07 Civic delegation from Almelo visits Preston.

 

-  06/10-11/10 Another visit from Almelo to Preston took place (12 persons), among them Almelo's Mayor Mr. Ravesloot.

On behalf of the people of Almelo Mayor Ravesloot layed a wreath at The War Memorial, Mar­ket Squa­re.

-  20/08-27/8 Eight students and their companions were invited to visit Preston by Rotary Pres­ton.

 

-  27/08-05/09 The first official Twinning exchange visit from Preston to Almelo took place! A civic delegation including The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Preston Councillor R. Ainsworth and 62 students from various Schools and Youth Organisa­ti­ons in Preston.

         The delegation took part in Queen Wilhelmina's 50 th Jubilee Cele­bration.
